To have a herringbone finish, you simply need to install the Brick Veneer in a herringbone pattern.
Check out this blog below to learn more about creating a herringbone pattern using Brick Veneer.
There are many different options when it comes to creating a pattern using your Brick Veneer.
These include the below:
Stretcher Bond – For homeowners who are seeking a traditional bricked pattern look then Stretcher Bond is the design we most commonly know. It’s the standard way of laying bricks and promises to showcase the versatility of Brick Veneer. This works with almost all Brick Veneer but looks particularly impressive when used with the likes of Cottage Blend Brick Veneer or London Weathered Brick Veneer.
English Bond – If you’re looking for a finish that involves a more refined and sophisticated look then the English Bond finish might be the preferred option. It’s unique and involves using alternating courses of stretchers and headers.
English Garden Wall – Achieving a truly unique, exterior look, this design is ideal should you be looking to make an impact with your Brick Veneer. With one course of headers for every third course of stretchers, it delivers a really quirky finish and would fit something along the lines of the Red Stock Brick Veneer.
English Cross Bond – This finish might be more suited to those Brick Veneer that have a smoother or more uniformed appearance to highlight the quality of the workmanship. This design would be highlighted by using the Old Coach House Brick Veneer or the Farmhouse Brick Veneer.
Flemish Bond – If you want to create a more rugged look that might be associated with old Victorian properties then this is the right choice for you. Creating something unique is always a great way to create the perfect look and the Old Bayswater Blend Brick Veneer might be the right choice.
Flemish Garden Wall – Create a neat look and finish with this choice of design. It’s clean, simple and has a subtle touch of quirkiness to it. To achieve a clinical look, you could opt for the Brick Veneer.
Monk Bond – This blend of different coloured Brick Veneeropens the door to creativity. Mix it up with the Iced Grey Brick Veneer and the St Andrews Brick Veneer to create a real focal point in any space.
Header Bond – The design is much like the Stretcher Bond but it uses half bricks throughout. Therefore, you could opt for any Brick Veneer to use for this design.
Stack Bond – This provides a very uniformed finish but one that does look impressive. Implemented with the right Brick Veneer such as the Rosewood Brick Veneer will finish off any space.
Herringbone – The great thing about Brick Veneer is that they are so versatile that they can be used on floors. Herringbone is a popular design when it comes to flooring so you could opt for something as clinical as the London Weathered Yellow Brick Veneer or the Normandy Grey Brick Veneer.

As well as “Brick Veneer” we have a few special shaped Brick Veneer to allow you tackle all areas of the home with a consistent and authentic Brick Veneer finish. Below we have a list of questions and answers to guide you around all of the common Brick Veneer questions we get asked.
Brick veneer corners are an L shaped Brick Veneer that are designed to fit neatly around external corners. In order to make them, the face of the brick is cut along the length and then around the end and it is this finish that creates the L shape.
Brick veneer corners are vital if you want to create an authentic-looking brick finish, which is what Brick Veneer is designed for. As a result, Brick Veneer corners are made to go around external corners. They are also used on pillars, chimney breasts, boxed in pipework, windows with a recess, doors with a recess as well as sills and ledges.
When you undertake a project using Brick Veneer, we recommend that you always start with the corner veneer. This will enable you to create a perfect stretcher bond look as they will have alternating sizes. If you are tiling a pillar or chimney breast, you will need to work out how the bond pattern will look from there and whether you will need to cut any pieces. It is, therefore, recommended that you do a dry run as this will make it possible for you to see what fits without actually fitting them to the wall.
Header brick Veneer is generally used for brick tile installations where one is looking to achieve a certain pattern such as the Flemish bond. Headers are often used in detailing work and work that requires a half brick profile.
Brick Veneer comes in many shapes and forms to ensure you have 100% coverage in your brick veneer project. Brick Veneer Stretcher Reveals are the front and underside cut in a. single piece from the brick. Below is an example of a stretcher brick veneer.
These are used in places such as door and window reveals to give the illusion a full brick has been used without any nasty cuts or joins.
**Please note our stretcher reveals are SINGLE FACED this means that the under side of the stretcher is not brick faced. For those looking for a dual faced brick tile particularly if looking to create a soldier bond we would highly recommend checking out our Corner Brick Veneer which are faced on the short and long side**
All of our stretchers can be viewed by clicking here.
Calculating the amount of corner brick veneer you need couldn’t be any easier! We work on the basis that 7 corners (when used with 10mm spacers) will cover a height of 0.5 meters.
On this basis, If your doing a fireplace chimney breast for example with a height of 2.5 meters you would need 35 corners for each side.
For any more help and advice regarding corner brick Veneer please feel free to reach out to us via live chat for us to work out your requirements.
Calculating the number of stretchers is fairly easy.
For Example: if you have a window reveal to do, you will use corner Brick Veneer for the two uprights (edges) the Stretcher Reveal Brick Veneer will be used for the top part of the window so simply measure it. In this example let’s assume it is 900mm wide. Our stretcher reveals are generally 215mm in length so 900 dived by 215 gives you 5 Stretchers (when rounded up)
Headers are fairly easy to calculate and on our header Brick Veneer pages we outline the number required depending on the pattern you wish to achieve.
English Garden Wall Bond – 27 Headers per square meter and 46 standard veneer.
English Bond – 60 Headers per square meter and 30 standard veneer.
Flemish Stretcher Bond – 40 Headers per square meter and 40 standard veneer.
Header Bond – 119 per square meter and no standard Brick Veneer.

Yes, many of our customers opt to install Brick Veneer themselves, and we have plenty of on site information to help you with the installation. We strongly recommend checking out the installation guide here
Yes, we have a list of approved and recommended installers. You can find out our full list by clicking here
The cost to have Brick Veneer installed varies depending on many factors. These factors include the size of the area you wish to install Brick Veneer, the complexity of the area, your location and other factors. To get a cost we would recommend reaching out to one of our recommended installers for a quote.
This is a question that many might ask and it is a valid question given that many homes are now made using internal walls cladded prepared plasterboard. The good news is that it is possible to fit Brick Veneer directly onto plasterboard, enabling you to install Brick Veneer wherever you want.
As with every job, you will need to plan in advance and the good news is that plasterboard won’t need to be plastered beforehand. In fact, if you want your Brick Veneer to stick to the walls, then you will need to make sure that the subsurface is solid and secure. This is because the strength of your Brick Veneer is only as strong as the surface they are fitted.
You can read more about installing Brick Veneer on plasterboard here
Yes, Brick Veneer can be installed directly on top of brick or block using our adhesive. Before doing so though, we do advise that you check to make sure the wall is sound and without cracks or any loose debris. If this is the case we would advise to simply prime the walls using our brick veneer primer and then apply using our adhesive.
Yes, Brick Veneer can be installed over paint, ideally a matt paint would better for adhesion but if you have a gloss or silk coat, we would recommend “scoring” the paint, this means taking a utility knife and scratching the paint every 5-10cm over the whole surface. This will allow the Brick Veneer and the adhesive to bond to the surface behind the paint giving a better adhesion.
The great thing about Brick Veneer is the way in which they provide an impressive level of versatility. While you might think that they are ideal for around the home (which they are of course), they are also suitable for use outside. With this comes endless possibilities because they can transform any outdoor space.
Our Brick Veneer is completely frost proof and offer the same performance as full bricks making them the perfect choice to use as exterior cladding or to spruce up your outside spaces.
Yes! Our Brick Veneer is Fire Rated A1 meaning they are non-combustible and suitable for all areas with extreme heat.
There are certain things that you will need to think about before you do install them. For Brick Veneer that is made using real clay, they will have the scope to handle the high temperatures that log burners and gas fires generate. However, the main recommendation is that there is a 100mm distance kept between the surface of the Brick Veneer and the heat source.
Also ensure that the materials you use (such as mortar) can handle the heat – such as ours!
Choosing the right Brick Veneer adhesive can be difficult if you’ve not used brick slip cladding systems before. So we wanted to offer you some guidance to help you avoid coming ‘unstuck’ at this critical stage of the process.
It will probably come as no surprise to you that our recommendation to you would be our Slipbond adhesive. But this blog is meant as informative guide rather than an advert. So we’ll give you the facts and allow you to decide for yourself.
If you came here from our installing brick slips blog and are unsure as to which Brick Veneer adhesive to use, do not worry, we are here to help!
There are two types of Brick Veneer adhesive. There is a choice of either cement based or epoxy based. The surface you are installing your Brick Veneer to will play a role in helping you decide which one to go with.
If the surface your applying your Brick Veneer to, is non porous epoxy adhesive is the route for you. This means your surface does not absorb water so because of this cement based adhesive would be ineffective.
Alternatively, if your surface IS porous, we’d recommend a going for the cement based. This is because it is cheaper per square meter as well being more readily available.
Always Mortar! Never Grout!
You would be forgiven for thinking that Brick Veneer pointing mortar is the same as grout. After all, once the mortar has been applied and dried, the appearance is indistinguishable from that of tile grout. However, it is very important that you don’t treat the mortar as grout. This is because, if you try and apply the mortar in the same way you apply grout you will ruin your Brick Veneer.
Grout is a highly viscous substance compared to mortar which is significantly thicker. Because of this if you spread mortar over your Brick Veneer in the same way you would with your standard ceramic tiles it will leave nasty stains on your Brick Veneer that can be quite difficult to remove. As Brick Veneer is often referred to as Brick Tiles you may hear the mortar be referred to as grout but it is absolutely imperative that you know the difference!
There are different methods to cut Brick Veneer, depending on the tools and materials available. One common way is to use an angle grinder with a diamond cutting disc to score and break the brick along the desired line. Another method is to use a tile cutting saw with a diamond blade to make precise cuts on thinner Brick Veneer.
You can find out tile cutter on our accessories page or, by clicking here
Sealing Brick Veneer is an essential step to improve their durability and resistance to moisture, staining, and potential damage. By sealing the surface, you create a protective barrier that prevents water absorption and helps prevent the growth of mold and mildew. Additionally, the right sealant can enhance the color vibrancy of the Brick Veneer and provide an extra layer of protection against external elements such as UV rays and pollutants.
Our ProPrimer is intended for use before the application of Brick Veneer. It is used to prime the substrate/walls to get the best out of your Slip-Fix adhesive. It is highly recommended that you use Brick Veneer primer before installation regardless of whether you are installing them in an external or internal project. This will ensure that you have a trouble and stress free installation that will withstand the test of time.
Brick veneer pro primer is extremely easy to use. It is recommended to apply 2 layers of pro primer to your desired surface. For your first coat, and 3 parts water for every 1 part primer into a mixing bucket. Once you have done that take a brush or a roller and apply it to your desired surface and scrub well into the surface to avoid pooling. Ensure that coat has dried before you go on to apply the next. For the next coat repeat the process however this time you only need 1 part water for every 1 part brick veneer primer. Some very porous surfaces will require a 3rd coat at 1 part primer 1 part water. Whereas some non-porous surfaces will only need 1 coat of brick veneer pro primer.
We understand that Brick Veneer looks amazing once they are installed, after all, it’s the reason why so many people are choosing to install them over other options out there. However, we also understand that over time, they can become tired looking because of simple wear and tear. While we all want to keep our Brick Veneer looking their best all of the time, it’s simply not possible because whether it’s messy children, pets or just general dirt or grime, they can become tired looking but all of that can change. After all, they have a unique surface texture which also means that they can attract dirt but there is a way to deal with this. However, what we will say is that it is important that you do clean them regularly to ensure the dirt is fully removed.
For a full break down on how to clean your Brick Veneer check out this blog

Brick veneer spacers are tools used in brick veneer installations. They are small plastic or rubber devices that help create consistent and even spacing between the brick veneer. These spacers are placed between the brick veneer during installation, ensuring that each brick veneer is properly aligned and spaced apart from the adjacent ones.
The use of brick veneer spacers serves two main purposes. Firstly, they help maintain a uniform and aesthetically pleasing look by ensuring consistent spacing between the brick veneer. This helps create neat and professional-looking mortar joints. Secondly, they allow for the accommodation of expansion and contraction of the brick veneer due to temperature changes, preventing cracking or damage to the installation.
We like to keep it simple when it comes to mortar so we offer two brick veneer mortar colours. These include white (which is an antique chalky white) and grey (a natural grey)
For most installation types we would recommend grey to keep it completely natural looking, some lighter brick veneer or for those looking to contrast their veneer, the white mortar is a great option.
Yes, as well as our brick veneer and special shaped brick veneer we also offer everything you could need to cut, fix and seal your brick veneer from mortar, to installation kits. Our full range of accessories can be seen by clicking here.
We fully recommend using out materials with our brick veneer as, these are the only products that we have tested with our brick tiles and allows us to offer you a 25 year warranty on your brick veneer when installed with our accessories.
ProPrimer is designed for application before brick veneer have been applied, to prime the substrate/walls before applying Slip-Fix Adhesive.
We would recommend priming all surfaces before the application of adhesive to ensure a trouble-free installation that will stand the test of time, it is suitable for both Internal and External brick veneer installations.
Check out our brick tile primer here!
As well as our bagged and tubbed adhesive, we also sell adhesive cartridges. In general, these are for smaller jobs such as fireplace inserts or repair jobs. One cartridge can cover up to 1m2 of brick veneer. The cartridges are used with a gun applicator (the same type used for caulking, silicone etc)
Calculating Brick Veneer, headers and corners etc couldn’t be any easier! Below is all the information you will need to work out everything you need to get that perfect finish to your project!
Yes, when using desktop or mobile and on a product page, just below the product image will be a link to our brick veneer calculator for which you can click and enter your measurements to work out the amount required.
Alternatively you can access our brick veneer calculator by clicking here.
Adhesive is very easy to calculate and it is based on you using a 6mm notched tile trowel. When used with this trowel a standard bag of adhesive will cover 4-5m2 or 8-10 boxes of Brick Veneer.
You can order brick veneer adhesive here.
The amount of mortar you need for your project can depend on many factors such as pattern. If you opt for a pattern with lots of headers you’re going to need a lot more mortar. However for a standard brick tile installation where they are laid in a stretcher bond (or brick bond) 1 bag will cover up to 3.5m2 when using our brick veneer spacers.
i.e. 1 bag for every 7 boxes of Brick Veneer.
We always recommend ordering 10-15% more than what you need this allows for breakages and waste.
For example, when installing your brick veneer along a wall you will need to cut down the brick veneer at either end on each row (wastage) over ordering will compensate for that.
In addition, if you run short even by a box, due to the fragile nature of Brick Veneer and courier restrictions we will need to send out a single box on a pallet at a cost of £60.

Delivery for full orders of brick veneer is 5-7 working days. All of our orders are made to order. Once your order has been completed they will be sent for a next working day delivery and we will email you with your tracking number.
Samples are delivered in around 3-5 working days, samples are delivered via parcel courier.
Deliveries of our brick veneer come by means of a rigid vehicle with tail lift and onboard manual pallet truck. Truck sizes can vary from 18 – 28 tonne trucks and if you think this may be too large you should inform us so we can discuss it with you. Please note we are unable to deliver to any address that have restrictions on HGV’s, weight limits or loading/unloading hours, please contact us first prior to placing your order.
Our deliveries are classed as Kerbside deliveries , we and our delivery companies are not insured to enter your property, we will always endeavour to deliver your goods to the nearest hardstanding point to your property, in some circumstances this may not be possible (restricted access streets, loading restrictions, narrow or one way streets, if you live in a block of flats or a property not accessible by our vehicles.
If you have a gravel drive you should understand that it is impossible to remove heavy consignments by means of a tail lift and pallet truck. If you have a gravel drive you may have to split the consignment and remove them by hand from the truck or the driver may have to leave the pallet on the nearest hard standing for you to split and carry at your convenience. The Pallet trucks can only operate on a flat smooth surface such as tarmac or concrete. It is not the drivers job to carry goods for you and whilst they may try to accommodate they are not obliged to do so.
All deliveries require a signature . You will need to be present at the time off delivery to sign for your delivery, if nobody is present and the driver delivers your goods without a signature, they will not be able to return to move the delivery if it is in the wrong location.
Samples are delivered via parcel courier and do not require a signature. IF you are not in to take delivery of your sample, these can be left in a safe place of your choosing.
Delivery for samples is completely FREE!
Delivery for large orders 1-39 boxes is £60.o0
Delivery for orders over 40 boxes is FREE
Delivery for installation aids ordered on their own starts at £10.74
Yes, in some circumstances collections can be arranged from one of our depots. Before placing an order to collect please contact our offices on 01889 227183 and a member of staff will be able to advise if a collection is possible and the arrangements that can be made.

Yes, once your order has completed with us and been collected by our chosen couriers, you will receive an email that will include a tracking reference number. You can use this to track your order.
All deliveries require a signature . You will need to be present at the time off delivery to sign for your delivery, if nobody is present and the driver delivers your goods without a signature, they will not be able to return to move the delivery if it is in the wrong location.
In addition, if we attempt to deliver and no one is in and nor, does the driver deem there to be a ‘safe’ place to unload or leave the goods, you may be liable to further delivery charges as we would need to pay for the brick veneer to be returned to depot and then re-sent out.
If you have received your tracking number and on the day of the anticipated delivery, your products do not arrive we advise you to call the carrier directly with your order number and postcode, they can then look in to the order for you and find out where your order is.
Delivery dates are not guaranteed and no acceptance of liability for delays due to late delivery can be accepted. We use 3rd party nationwide pallet haulage and courier companies for our deliveries and from time to time delays due to instances out of our control such as adverse weather, road closures, accidents, and traffic may occur and delay your delivery, we will not be held liable for any consequential losses you may incur from any delays on your order.
Best practise dictates that you should always have the materials on site before booking a tradesman or making other arrangements for the installation process, this way should your shipment be delayed, it will reduce the risk of any inconvenience.
We are sorry to hear you have damaged brick veneer.
If the goods are damaged on receipt you should:
Once we receive this we can then make an informed decision and send out replacements if applicable.
Please do not refuse the delivery if there are damages on the order as, this can incur additional fees.
There are certain restrictions when it comes to our deliveries but this is more in respect to getting the vehicle to the property for example:
No Kerbside – Deliveries are made via kerb side, if there is no sufficient space to deliver the goods or there are waiting, loading restrictions this can make it difficult to deliver
Weight/Width restrictions – If you are directly connected to a weigh bridge that has a low weight bearing it may make it difficult for a driver to access your road and deliver your Brick Veneer. In addition if there are restrictions such as a narrow lane or double parking this can also affect the delivery. In this case it is advised that you contact us prior to your delivery to let us know.
If you live down a narrow road or have any sort of access restrictions such as parking on both sides of the street please contact us as soon as your order is placed on sales@slipsfromstock.com.
A member of the team can then advise the depot of the restrictions and measures can be implemented to ensure a successful delivery.
Failing to let us know could result in an abandoned delivery where the driver has had to turn back, this will then result in additional delivery charges.
Unfortunately not, the driver can not take the pallet it is part of your order. however you should be able to find local companies who will take it away to recycle or use as firewood.
Unfortunately not. The couriers are a third-party company and not directly associated to us. Due to the weight, health and safety and, insurance drivers are generally not permitted to manually handle your order.
The Brick Veneer is delivered via pallet and the driver will use a pallet truck to manoeuvre the pallet in to place (kerbside)
Whilst we usually do offer express and next day delivery we have had to suspend this due to the huge demand, We process around 50-100 orders a day and all of our Brick Veneer is cut to order. Which means once an order is placed it joins the cutting que and we can not fast track this at this moment in time.
If these options are reinstated they will be available on the checkout page.
Generally no. There is no option on the website when creating an order to select a delivery date. However if the goods are not required for 10+ days then you can email us on sales@slipsfromstock.com with your order number to advise of a preferred delivery date as long as it is at least 10 working days in advance.
Yes, unfortunately each delivery attempt is chargeable and we are charged by the couriers to pick up and deliver your Brick Veneer.
If you miss your delivery, the pallet will then be returned to a depot and will need to be rebooked out for a second delivery. We will notify you by email if this is the case.
To prevent this, we do email advising the goods have been dispatched with tracking details.
Yes you can, providing your order has not been dispatched, you can amend your address by contacting us via email at sales@slipsfromstock.com send us an email with your order number and new address and we can get this changed for you.
If your Brick Veneer has already been dispatched then it may not be as simple, we can arrange the courier to cancel the delivery attempt but to change the address may incur an additional delivery charge.
Paperwork is not always supplied with deliveries as we do our best to reduce our carbon footprint and keep all materials as digital as possible. This means your order confirmation, invoice, dispatch notification and tracking details are all sent via email to the same email address used at the time of your order.
We are sorry to hear this but, fear not! We are here to help. Mistakes can happen sometimes and in these situations if you believe the wrong Brick Veneer have been delivered, the first thing to do is contact us. The best way to do this is to send us an email to sales@slipsfromstock.com with your order number and a picture of the Brick Veneer. Try to do this within 24 hours of your delivery.
That being said, sometimes when your Brick Veneer are delivered they can appear slightly different or darker than the samples you had. This is due to the manufacturing process. When the Brick Veneer are cut a lot of water is used to Coll the blades, when this is done the bricks then retain the water giving them a darker appearance. It can take 1-2 weeks for the Brick Veneer to fully dry out as per your samples.
If you are still sure your Brick Veneer sample is wrong do get in contact with us ASAP.
